He was a contemporary of Dr Freud (Mr twin brother is a Psychologist) Jung developed a theory of something called the complex.

Its like an emotional card house we all build around ourselves to protect us from things we find threatening.

If you have a partner, a parent or a sibling you always have the same fight with, it seems like once you get started and neither of you can stop, you just repeat the same pattern. Afterward you think back of how silly it was.

That was a complex. Everyone has them.

The idea was that in a person whose complexes were crippling, if you made them confront them that you could make them fall like a card house and you could treat the person under their defenses and help them get better.
